Habitat For Humanity is the largest homebuilder there is. Since it was founded in 1976, Habitat has built more than 200,000 homes around the world, and GLPH is proud to be an active participant in the good work of Northwest Michigan Habitat For Humanity. It’s just one of the ways GLPH gives back to the communities it serves. We recently completed our third Habitat project in five years with the contribution of 100 man-hours and selected material at cost to the construction and infrastructure of a home in Boyne City, Michigan. Joining us in this project were GLPH strategic partners Lennox Industries (HVAC equipment) and E & J Supply (plumbing fixtures), both of which contributed their products at no cost. In addition to the plumbing system, GLPH installed a Lennox G51MP natural gas furnace in the Boyne City home, providing the owners with 92% home heating efficiency. And because insulating concrete forms were used in construction—resulting in an almost perfectly insulated airtight interior environment—we also outfitted the 1,640 square foot home with a Lennox heat recovery ventilator (HVR) that circulates the entire volume of air in the home every 1.5 days.
